Thanks to your generous participation, STOP AIDS meets goal & expectations for the 2008 Walk
to Stop AIDS! STOP AIDS happily announces that the proceeds from its annual fundraising pledge walk, held on Saturday, September 27th, 2008 at Sawyer Point met its goal and expectations! The Cincinnati weather could not have been better on Saturday and everyone was energized as STOP AIDS kicked off the Walk to Stop AIDS at Sawyer Point! STOP AIDS is delighted to report that the event raised over $100,000 in revenues for STOP AIDS to continue its mission to provide education, testing and support services to the greater Cincinnati community. Kathy Nardiello, event chair, reports, "It was yet again another fantastic and profitable Walk for STOP AIDS!!! I couldn't be happier with the crowd and the results! All indications are that the final event proceeds will be equivalent to last year’s proceeds - that’s just awesome! In a year where our economy is struggling it is a major accomplishment to have matched last year's event proceeds! Many thanks to our walkers, our sponsors and all of our supporters for solidifying these important revenues for STOP AIDS!” Nardiello credits the generosity of the event media sponsors, 100.1 WIZF, 100.3 Mojo & 1230am The Buzz, and Local 12 as making a big difference in event participation. Other sponsors Starbucks, Marx Bagels and Coca-Cola who provided a pre-walk continental breakfast during registration. Trauth Dairy and Powerade provided refreshments along the scenic 5-mile Riverfront walk, and Dixie Chili, in partnership with Coca-Cola, Husman’s, and Galerie provided the post-walk lunch! Everyone loved having Dixie Chili! Dixie Chili Owner and Walk to Stop AIDS committee member, Spiros Sarakatsannis, was delighted with being able to provide his famous cheese coneys to all walk participants and volunteers! Many thanks not only to our generous corporate sponsors, but especially to our walkers, and to all the friends, family, co-workers who supported them. Our heartfelt thanks goes out to them and also to our staff and volunteers who served food and drinks, set-up, distributed brochures and posters, registered walkers, gave massages, provided entertainment, answered questions, served as marshals on the route, staffed refreshment stops, and performed the countless but vital tasks that make our event such fun, energy-filled and inspirational. This event is made possible through the generous donations of our corporate supporters: Radio One, 101.1 The Wiz, 100.3 Mojo, 1230 AM The Buzz, WKRC-Local 12, Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Fifth Third Bank, Walgreen's, Dixie Chili, Trauth Dairy, Galerie, Sara Lee Foods, Starbucks, Comey & Shepherd Realtors, Jack Wolking, Cincinnati Frontrunners, Scott Knox: Attorney at Law, Coca-Cola, Steamex Eastern, Kroger, Pulse, Cincinnati Magazine, CityBeat, and many more! Proceeds of the Walk to Stop AIDS Cincinnati support STOP AIDS' HIV Prevention Education Programs, free and anonymous HIV testing programs and client services to HIV/AIDS infected individuals, their families, friends, and loved ones in the Greater Cincinnati Area.
